Adding a table

Tables

Tables is where your floor is described. Add Table asks for a Table Number, a Capacity, a Shape, a Floor/Area and a Note.

Table Number is what the waiter and the kitchen ticket call the table. Keep it short and obvious — T1, T2, or 1, 2, 3. It has to be unique.

Capacity is how many people the table seats. It is shown beside the table on the POS and it is what the booking system uses to fit a party.

Shape is Square, Round or Rectangle and only affects how the table is drawn on the floor map.

Floor/Area is free text, for example Main Floor, Roof or Family Hall. It groups the tables on the map, and the booking module uses it to hold a whole hall.

  1. 1 Open Tables from the sidebar.
  2. 2 Tap Add Table.
  3. 3 Type the Table Number and the Capacity.
  4. 4 Pick a Shape and type the Floor/Area if you have more than one.
  5. 5 Save, then repeat for every table in the restaurant.

A restaurant with a roof terrace

  • T1 to T8: Capacity 4, Shape Square, Floor/Area Main Floor.
  • T9 and T10: Capacity 8, Shape Rectangle, Floor/Area Main Floor — the big tables at the back.
  • R1 to R6: Capacity 4, Shape Round, Floor/Area Roof.
  • The floor map then draws two groups, Main Floor and Roof, and the booking module can hold the whole Roof for a party.

The table map

Tables

The Tables page opens on a Floor Map — every table drawn in its shape, grouped by Floor/Area, with counters at the top for Available, Occupied and Reserved.

The colour tells you the state at a glance, and the number of people it seats is shown on each table.

Tapping a table offers New Order, which takes you to the till with that table already selected.

How a table becomes occupied and free again

Tables

You almost never set this by hand. Placing a dine-in order on a table marks it Occupied automatically, and completing or cancelling that order frees it again.

If a table does get stuck — a browser closed mid-sale, for instance — use Change Status on the table and set it back to Available.

Reserved is the third state, set by the booking module when a table is being held for a guest.

Printing the table QR codes

Tables → Print QR Codes

With QR Code Table Ordering switched on under Settings → Modules, a Print QR Codes button appears on the Tables page.

It produces a printable sheet with one card per table: the table number, how many it seats, the code itself and the line SCAN TO ORDER with a short instruction underneath.

Print it, cut the cards out and stick one on each table. Each code is tied to its own table for good, so an order placed from it always arrives pinned to the right table.

With the module switched off the button is not there, and the page tells you QR ordering is turned off and to enable it in Settings → Modules first.

This chapter describes the software as it is today. Every account gets the same guide inside the product, searchable and printable.
